Writing From Live Art
In collaboration with Live Art UK's Writing From Live Art Scheme and a-n's new Interface website, VITAL 07 will look at the critical frameworks surrounding Live Art. How is Live Art written about; where is it written about; who it is written for; and, within the context of VITAL 07, what kinds of issues does writing about culturally specific practices raises The Writing From Live Art writers Hazel Tsoi-Wiles and Rachel Lois Clapham will create responses to the VITAL 07 performance programme and discuss these and other issues with Interface's editor Rosemary Shirley, and VITAL artist Leung Po in the VITAL 07 conference.
Live Art UK is the national network of Live Art promoters, working together to support artists and audiences. Live Art UK explores new models and partnerships for the promotion of Live Art, and develops new ways to increase the national and international visibility of Live Art.
Writing From Live Art was conceived to provide an opportunity for new writers, or writers who are new to Live Art, to engage with Live Art and performance work. Writing From Live Art is focused upon supporting writers to become established commentators on Live Art in the arts and mainstream press. The scheme encourages writing that is critical but accessible, and seeks to engage new audiences and readers through articles, reviews and debate. The facilitator for Writing From Live Art is artist and writer Joshua Sofaer.
WFLA writers post reviews, interviews and comments on the blog.
Interface is a brand new web development from a-n The Artists Information Company. With What's on and Reviews unedited, a-n's platform for critical writing, Interface is a focal point around the presentation of art. It covers the breadth of contemporary visual arts practice, including exhibitions, live art, new public artworks and artists' books. It provides a unique open resource for curators, artists, critics and writers to write and upload their own reviews, and comment on someone else's. www.a-n.co.uk/interface
